What is New Media

New Media in theory does not necessarily have to be new. In most cases, new media is an adaptation of something that is currently in use and thought to be updated. Foe example, one could say an email is based off a letter, or text messaging. Skype could be called an updated version of webcam/telephone. The basic function of new media is to make our everyday lives a lot simpler in terms of communication and access. Updating to Facebook and Twitter allows your friends and family to know what you are doing at that very instant and basically voids the idea of a card at holiday times. Just send birthday wishes via Facebook and you are set! In conclusion, New Media is based on Old Media, but because society also wants something done faster and that is cutting edge, New Media will continue to evolve with the needs and the demand of the people
